Birthplace: Rural Montgomery County, IA Resided In: Rural Montgomery County, IA John Lawrence "Johnnie" Harding, age 79, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at his residence. Johnnie was born November 21, 1935 on the home place in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Zearil and Hattie Anna (Poulsen) Harding. He attended school at Coburg and lived all of his life in Montgomery County. Johnnie was united in marriage to Julia Jane Sharp on February 5, 1955 in Westboro, Missouri. Three daughters were born to this union: Karen, Kristy, and Shelley. Over the years Johnnie worked for Sierp Oil Company, Star Agri, Nachurs, Walnut Grove, Union Carbide, and retired from Eveready Battery Company when the plant closed. He was a former Masonic Lodge member, Grace Baptist Church member, enjoyed playing baseball, and loved music. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and had a band for many years, "The Country Folks", but most of all he treasured his family whom he loved dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Walter and Otto Lassen; sisters: Glea Lassen, Ruth Strunge, Ardis Bangston, and Zearilene Vanderhoof. Survivors include his wife: Janie Harding of Red Oak; daughters: Karen Larson and husband Mark of Omaha, NE; Kristy Pauly and husband Chuck of Omaha, NE; and Shelley Lundgren and husband Karl of Red Oak; grandchildren: Jessica Larson of Omaha, NE; Kaitlin Bates and husband Paul of Omaha, NE; Andrew Larson of Omaha, NE; John Whitmyre and wife Kayla of Omaha, NE; Jared Whitmyre and wife Dr. Lauren Prest of Salt Lake City, UT; Deanna Whitmyre of Omaha, NE; Jason Pauly of Omaha, NE; Ben Lundgren of Clive, IA; Brooke Lundgren of Monticello, IA; and Ryan Lundgren of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Mackenzie Larson and Bennett Bates; sisters-in-law: Opal Strunge of Loma Linda, California; Velma Wilson of Grants Pass, OR; Clara Lynn of Moore Haven, FL; Lavonne Sharp of Riverton, IA; and Jean Sharp of Wellsburg, IA; brothers-in-law: Carol Deane Sharp and wife Mary of Red Oak, IA and Maurice Sharp and wife Bonnie of University Place, WA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
