Birthplace: Zion, Iowa Resided In: Kerville, TX formerly Red Oak John Thomas Scanlan, age 73, of Kerrville, Texas formerly Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home in Kerville. John was born June 25, 1941 in Zion, Iowa the son of Edward and Edna (Chilcott) Scanlan. He was raised in southwest Iowa and prior to 1967 he worked in many states and different jobs until he took a job with Union Carbide. He retIred as a machinist from Eveready Battery after 29 years of employment. John was united in marriage to Patricia Ford on November 20, 1982 in Glenwood, Iowa. They enjoyed many years at home in Kerville, Texas. John was also a long time member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister: Maurine; son: Mike Scanlan; and great granddaughter: Hailey. Survivors include his wife: Patricia Scanlan of Kerville, TX; sons: Mark Scanlan and wife Teri of Red Oak, IA and Larry Scanlan of Omaha, NE; step-children: Lisa McCall of Red Oak, IA; Lori Bare of Omaha, NE; and Richard Lamm and wife Carlie of Elk Grove, CA; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 6 brothers; 2 sisters; and many other relatives and friends. Per John's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
