Birthplace: Montgomery County, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA John Robert "Bob" Norris, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his home. Bob was born April 20, 1938 in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Dale and Opal (Klepinger) Norris. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Patsy Hultman in July. Four children were born to this union: Robin, John, James, and Sara. He farmed in the early years and later sold real estate and commodities. He retired in 1999. Bob was a member of the National Farmers Organization where he served as President of the Montgomery County Chapter. He had a real passion to help save family farms. Bob was also passionate about politics and was honored to serve as a delegate to the 1968 Democratic National Convention. He loved music, spending time with family, participating in the kid's athletic events, spending time with friends and was a long time member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Dale Norris, Jr.; and sisters: Lorraine Keat and Elaine Goodwin. Survivors include his children: Robin Norris Jennings and friend Ed Philpott of Red Oak, IA; John Norris and wife Jackie of Des Moines, IA; James Norris and wife Jan of Red Oak, IA; and Sara Norris and husband Brian Bourgeois of Omak, WA; grandchildren: Tyler Jennings of Red Oak, IA; Spencer Jennings and wife Tarin of Blair, NE; Jackson Philby and wife Megan of Westminster, CO; Rachel Jennings and fiance Erik Schilling of Davenport, IA; Hunter, Cole, and Sam Norris of Des Moines, IA; Jake Norris and wife Taylor of Chicago, IL; Joey Norris and Samantha Williams of Red Oak, IA; and Jill Norris of Denver, CO; great grandchildren: Jenna, Ainsley, Delilah, and Navy; brother-in-law: Robert Goodwin of Glenwood, IA; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Faith Community Church with Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Walnut Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Community Foundation or a progressive cause in which the donor believes to be appropriate. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
