John Patrick "Pat" Lewis, age 73, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Pat was born July 13, 1950, the son of John Lewis, Jr. and Phyllis (Christensen) Lewis. He was raised in Elliott and graduated from Griswold Community High School in 1968. He worked at D & L in Red Oak, Kaiser Rock Quarry, Oakview Construction, and back to Kaiser Construction before starting his own business, Pat Lewis Trucking. Pat was united in marriage to Philomena "Deana" Brownsberger on June 6, 1968, in Anita, Iowa. They made their home in Elliott, Iowa for their entire marriage. Pat was very active in the Elliott and surrounding communities. He served for 25 years on the board of Griswold Telephone, served as Deputy Chief and Secretary of the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Elliott Business and Betterment Association, and a member of the Elliott Community Club. Pat was very proud of his work at the Hillside Cemetery where he spearheaded the project of putting a vinyl fence around the property.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son: Denny Lewis; sister: LaVonne; and nephew: Jeff Harris. Survivors include his wife: Deana Lewis of Elliott; son: Joe Lewis and wife Kim of Red Oak, IA; grandsons: Darrin Lewis of Papillion, NE; Shayne Larson and wife Katie of Stanton, IA; and Jared Larson of Maryville, MO; great grandchildren: Sloane Larson and Pryor Larson; sisters: Sue Harris and husband Bo of Red Oak and Sharon Reynolds of Franklin, KY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Joy Davis of Litchfield Park, AZ; Philip Brownsberger and wife Barb of Council Bluffs, IA; Judy Wilson and husband Max of Litchfield Park, AZ; Avis Petty of Griswold, IA; Paul Brownsberger of Atlantic, IA; Cecilia "Jo" Stowe of Flagstaff, AZ; and Stephanie Bessire and husband Michael of Ada, OK; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the United Church of Hope in Elliott, Iowa. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Elliott, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave., Red Oak, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Dennis Lewis Scholarship Fund.
