John Michael "Mick" Hudson, age 62, of Hastings, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home after an extended illness. Mick was born August 21, 1962, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Roger Hudson, Sr. and Jean (Johnson) Hudson. He was raised most of his life in Hastings, Iowa, and graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 1980. Over the years, Mick worked for Dave Barnes Painting, Hudson Sanitation, MINSA, and The Office Lounge, as well as being a caregiver to his parents and brother, "Chip" in their last days. He was united in marriage, and one child was born to this union: Tera Lyn. He later had a long-time relationship with Kim Putnam, and they had two children: MaKayla and Kaylie. His hobbies included camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, partying, listening to classic rock, and collecting baseball cards and coins. But his favorite pastime was spending time with his granddaughters and family.

Preceding him in death was his grandmother: Irene Harris who he had a special bond; his parents; and brothers: Keith, Cary, and Chip. Survivors include his children: Teralyn (MacKenzy) of Tabor, Iowa; MaKayla (Ricardo "Ocho"); Kaylie (Matthew); and Bryan (Kaylee) all of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Olyvia, Isaac, Sophyia, Akhaysia, Elouyse, Jazmyn, and one granddaughter on the way: Faylynn; siblings: Vel Edie (Dave) and Gary Hudson all of Red Oak, Iowa; aunt: Donna Morelock of Kansas City, Missouri; friend: Casey "Sam" Bates of Henderson, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Hastings Community Church in Hastings, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the family.
