Obituary

John Paul “Bud” Goddard, age 87, of Villisca, Iowa, formerly of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Bud was born March 12, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of George and Wyona (Kinns) Goddard. The family moved to Fulton, South Dakota, where Bud graduated from Fulton High School. He then attended South Dakota State University in Aberdeen. Bud was united in marriage to Beverly Gannon on June 2, 1958, in Mitchell, South Dakota. Bud worked in many different places throughout his career in the agricultural industry. While in Mitchell, South Dakota, he worked for Hormel and Nachurs Plant Food Company moving to Stanton, Iowa, in 1971. He was the manager of Nachurs in Red Oak, Iowa, until 1975, when he and Beverly started Agri Gains working until 1996 when they sold the business to Randy and Denise Goddard. Bud and Bev continued operating the trucking business for several more years. The past 10 years, they had made their home in Villisca, Iowa. They spent many winters in Punta Gorda, Florida, even before retirement. Bud and Bev enjoyed deer hunting and dancing together. Bud was a 55 year-lifetime member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge, a member of the Double Dozen, and a long time Red Oak Chamber of Commerce member.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters: JoAnn Davis and Connie Aulner. Survivors include his wife: Beverly Goddard of Villisca, Iowa; children: Randy Goddard and wife Denise of Stanton, Iowa; Deb Hoover and husband Mike of Moorland, Iowa; and Pam Hanson and husband Todd of Loudon, Tennessee; grandchildren: Hilary O’Flynn and husband Bryan of Gretna, Nebraska; Jonathan Goddard and wife Liz of Red Oak, Iowa; Emily Doty and husband Kyle of Red Oak, Iowa; Brittany Whigham and husband Drew of Red Oak, Iowa; Michelle Wills of Alta, Iowa; Melissa Antill and husband Cole of Elizabeth, Colorado; Josh Wills and wife Amanda of Adel, Iowa; Brooke Lozano and husband John of San Antonio, Texas; Karmin Stoumbaugh and husband Aaron of Thornton, Colorado; and Madison Hanson of Iowa City, Iowa; 21 great grandchildren; sister: Sandy Boomgaarden and husband Dave of Port Charlotte, Florida; brother: Roger Goddard and wife Geri Kay of Oceanside, California; sister-in-law: Marcella Titze of Mitchell, South Dakota; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, March 2, 2026, at LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Mamre Cemetery in Stanton, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, March 1, 2026, at LeRette Funeral Chapel.
