Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa John Raymond Braden, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Stanton Care Center in Stanton, Iowa. John was born January 24, 1926 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Arthur Raymond and Ruth (Trued) Braden. He graduated from Elliott High School and served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines and participated in the Japanese Occupation Services. Upon his return from service he lived in Red Oak where he was a painter contractor. He was united in marriage to Lois Clark on February 2, 1947 in Troy, Kansas. Over the years, John was a member of the First Baptist Church, Nishna Church of Christ, the American Legion, and Isaac Walton League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and good food. John never knew a stranger and always enjoyed visiting. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Ralph Braden; sisters: Marie Braden Woods and Nettie Belle Braden Artlip; wife: Lois Braden on September 25, 1992; son: Jay Braden on March 15, 1993; and daughter-in-law: Karen Braden on December 7, 2013. Survivors include his sons: John Braden, Jr. of Mason City, IA; Jim Braden and wife Linda of Red Oak, IA; and Jeff Braden and wife Marie of Port Orchard, WA; grandchildren: Jennifer Dunne and husband James of Ankeny, IA; Jeremy Braden and wife Carrie of Onawa, IA; Jonathon Braden and wife Krystal of Columbia, SC; Caroline Cleveland and husband Frank of Cedar Rapids, IA; Ross Braden and wife Sarah of West Point, IA; Angie Sanders and husband Jason of Warrensburg, MO; and Jill McKay and husband Adrian of Ft. Madison, IA; 8 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Elliott, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30-8 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Home Health and Hospice or the church of the donor's choice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
