Joe P. Abbott, passed away September 11, 2023, at Oroville, California. He was born on March 20, 1940 in Thurmand, Iowa, the son of Adam and Bonnie (Jones) Abbott. Joe grew up and attended school in Red Oak, Iowa. He then married Karen Tull. They had three children: Alin, Callea, and Belynda. The family moved to California when the children were young. Joe and Karen later divorced. Joe married Ita Schoop in California. To this union, a daughter, Amelia "Amy" was born. He later married Leta Madge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; brothers: Doug, Jerry, and Kenneth "Tuffy" Abbott; and sisters: Donetta Cady, Dixie Dozier, and Marjorie Munn. Survivors include his children: Alin (Georgia) Abbott; Callea Farmer; Belynda Daniels; and Amy (Marc) Verbisk; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers: John (Lorraine) Abbott and Danny (Joyce) Abbott; sisters: Bonnie (Arthur) Elkins; Sharon McGinnis; Carmen Williams; special friends: Deane Enea and Sharon Angle; and nephew: Donald Dozier; along with many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
