Birthplace: Athol, MA Resided In: Elliott, IA Joan Emaline Selders, age 82, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Joan was born February 10, 1933 in Athol, Massachusetts the daughter of Ernest and Beatrice (Kelly) Newell. Joan was united in marriage to Herman Foster and two children were born of this union: Gregory and Linda. She later was united in marriage to Ralph Selders on October 1, 1955. They made their home in Chicago for many years and moved to Southwest, Iowa in 1973. Two children were born of this union: Kathy and Teri. Currently Joan was living in Elliott, Iowa. She enjoyed collectibles, was a true movie buff and was quite talented in turning napkins into doilies. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Herman Foster; son: Gregory Foster in 1964; sisters: Liz Mederos, Dorothy Davis, and Madeline Richards; and brothers: Phillip Newell and Francis Newell. Survivors include her daughters: Linda Craver and husband Arnie of Athol, MA; Kathy Lake and husband Phillip of Ravensdale, WA; and Teri Lake and husband Rodney of Auburn, WA; brother: Gordon Newell; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Whipple Cemetery near Griswold, Iowa. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
