Birthplace: Council Bluffs, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Joan Baumbach, age 70, of Elliott, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Joan Baumbach was born March 1, 1932 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Buck and Augusta (Cozior) McKern. She attended school in Council Bluffs and lived in Henderson, Red Oak, and Wales before moving to Elliott. Joan was united in marriage to Lee Baumbach on August 21, 1970 in Fremont, Nebraska. They moved to Elliott in 1988. Joan worked at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak, the Nursery in Shenandoah, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; Son: Fred Baumbach in 1968; and a daughter: Mary Ann Waggener in 2001. Survivors include her husband: Lee Baumbach of Elliott, Iowa; 2 sons: Gary Baumbach of Emerson, Iowa; and Les Baumbach and his wife Cindy of Coralville, Iowa; 2 daughters: Becky McCunn of California; and Candace Baumbach of Elliott, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 4 sisters; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 25, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gordon Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
