Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our wonderful sister, Joan Anderson, 59 of Branson West, Missouri. Joan passed away on May 12, 2022 at the Cox Health Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri. Joan Anderson was born February 17, 1963 in Red Oak, Iowa. The daughter of Dr. Kenneth and Elizabeth "Ibby" (Murphy) Anderson. Joan was raised in Red Oak and attended Red Oak Community Schools. While in school Joan excelled in academics. She enjoyed playing basketball and running cross country and track. Joan graduated valedictorian of the Red Oak Class of 1981. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Iowa. Joan held various jobs in financial services, IT and hospitality. She later left the corporate arena and became a successful independent fundraising dealer with Butter Braid products. She also worked part-time in the cash management office at Silver Dollar City Amusement Park. Joan loved living and spending time on Table Rock Lake, playing golf with her Branson friends and hosting her high school friends every summer at "Camp Joan". She also enjoyed carrying on the family tradition of knitting custom Christmas stockings for every new addition to her large family. Joan was an avid Christmas cookie baker. She dedicated time volunteering for the Junior Auxiliary of Taney County where she was a past treasurer and lifetime member. She was passionate about JA and enjoyed being part of a group of women dedicated to helping the children of Taney County. Joan was also a longtime member of Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Kenneth and Elizabeth Anderson. She is survived by her siblings, Christie and husband Mick Connor; John and wife Joanne Anderson; Barb Brittan; Jim and wife Sue Anderson; her twin sister, Jane Anderson; and Jeff Anderson and wife Tami. Nineteen nieces and nephews and twenty-one great nieces and nephews, other relatives and a community of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to the Junior Auxiliary of Taney County at P. O.
