Obituary

James Lee "Jim" Bond, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Jim was born October 5, 1936, in Montgomery County, Iowa, the son of Donald and Lillian (Swanson) Bond. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Marie Wells on January 19, 1956 in Red Oak, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak, Iowa. Jim started his working career with Thos. D. Murphy Co. also while working at Youngberg Standard Station. Jim then started at Nelson Dairy which was purchased by Anderson Erickson where he retired after many years of service. He then worked in Maintenance at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital until he retired again. In retirement, Jim took on mowing jobs taking care of anywhere from 8-10 yards. Jim was a former member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge and Classy Chassis Car Club. He spent many hours cruising in his 1939 Chevy. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Marie Bond; son: Doug Bond; great grandson: Eligah Bond; and brothers: Max and Bruce. Survivors include his son: Donnie Bond and wife Denise of Villisca, IA; daughter: Brenda Strong and husband Dave of Erie, CO; daughter-in-law: Kelly Bond of Shenandoah, IA; grandchildren: Damien Bond and wife Kim of Red Oak, IA; Jesse Bond and wife Edi of Essex, IA; Calob Bond and wife Melissa of Red Oak, IA; Jami Strong of Dacono, CO; Jeb Bond and wife Crystal of Plattsmouth, NE; Tyler Bond of Council Bluffs, IA; and Allison Plugge and husband Patrick of Sutherland, NE; step-grandchildren: Adam Smith and wife Abbey of Elliott, IA; Caleb Smith and wife Rebekah of Atlantic, IA and Bailie Skidmore of Emerson, IA; great grandchildren: Dawson, Brody and Nicole Bond of Red Oak, IA; Kadin Bradley of Lawrence, KS; Mila and Locksley Bond of Red Oak, IA; Jordyn, Jacob, and Jersey Bond of Plattsmouth, NE; Kailie Bond of Council Bluffs, IA; and Morgan and Wyatt Plugge of Sutherland, NE; step-great grandchildren: Aiden, Aspen, and Abel Smith of Elliott, IA and Rhett Fleming of Emerson, IA; sisters-in-law: Joanne Wells of Alabama; Marian Bond of Ankeny, IA; and Jo Bond of Grover Beach, California; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, April 15, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A private family burial service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Classy Chassis Car Club or the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
