Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak,Iowa Jessica Nicole Houtchens, age 27, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Jessica was born June 18, 1991 in Red Oak, Iowa. She graduated from Red Oak High School in the class of 2010 and started working for Nishna Productions Redemption Center. She also worked at the Nishna Productions Workshop. Jessica was a very outgoing person and never knew a stranger. In her younger days she was active in Girl Scouts and was known to be an animal lover. She loved her dog, Jaxon, her cat, Puma, and her guinea pig, Ozzie. She also loved fishing, music, dancing, singing, watching Walker Texas Ranger, collecting beanie babies, and was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. She had a fighting spirit and encouraged others to fight with her very positive attitude. The Red Oak Eagle Riders helped her accomplish many things on her "bucket list' including riding in a Mud Truck, pontoon rides, motorcycle rides, and going to Nebraska football games. Jessica definitely made an impact on everyone she came in contact with. Her loving spirit will always dwell in those who knew her. Preceding her in death were her grandparents: Judy May Skorna, Joseph Frank Skorna, Robert Houtchens, Nicholas Fekete, and Clara Bell Gallihugh. Survivors include her parents: Patricia and Ken Stacey of Red Oak, IA; her biological father: Lynn Houtchens of Red Oak, IA; sisters: Kami Kay Pohl, Brittany Lynn Houtchens of Harrison, MI, and Heather Pohl of Jackson, MI; grandma: Liz Houtchens of Emerson, IA; great grandma: Anna Fekete of Red Oak, IA; uncles: Christopher Joseph Skorna of Colorado Springs, CO; Michael Skorna and wife Kimberly of St. Johns, MI; Robert Houtchens and wife Becky of Maryville, MO; and Doug Courtier and wife Chris of Bellevue, NE; best friend: Callie Klyn of Red Oak, IA; many cousins and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place after the services. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Eagle Riders. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
