Birthplace: Allerton, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Jerry Huston, age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Jerry Riley Huston was born April 14, 1934 in Allerton, Iowa the son of Fred and Fra (Riley) Huston. Jerry graduated from the Seymour, Iowa high school and attended Parsons College. He then served in the United States Army. Jerry taught school in North English, Iowa from 1960-1965. On January 30, 1965 he was united in marriage to Connie Wilkins. To this union were born three children: Theresa, Mark, and Scott. After marriage they lived in Mt. Pleasant, West Liberty, and Bloomfield, Iowa before accepting a position with the Nishna Valley School as principal in 1972. While at Nishna Valley School, Jerry also served as superintendent. Jerry continued his education throughout these years and graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Masters Degree and University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Specialist Degree. He retired from Nishna Valley Schools in 1984. After retirement he worked in various jobs in several different locations. Jerry spent nine months living in Arizona with his son Scott before moving back to Red Oak in July of this year. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew: Jim Burger. Survivors include his children: Theresa McClure and husband Jim of Avon, Connecticut; Mark Huston and wife Kim of Grimes, Iowa; and Scott Huston and fiancé Bobbi Gladu of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; 2 grandchildren: Peyton McClure and Bo Huston; brother: Edward Huston and wife Donna of Edmond, Oklahoma; niece: Jane Collier and husband Chuck and their children, Lindsey and Lauren of Edmond, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Corydon, Iowa Cemetery. There will be open viewing and visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with family visitation to be held from 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday prior to the funeral services at the funeral home. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
