Birthplace: Henderson, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Jerry Lee Byers, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Azria Healthcare in Clarinda, Iowa. Jerry was born August 9, 1933, in Henderson, Iowa, the son of Delmar "Swede" and Mildred (Starr) Byers. He graduated from Henderson High School and started driving a truck for Byers Brothers Trucking. He later bought that business and operated it for many years. In his later years, he worked many places including, McAlpin Motors, Schildberg's, Roger Carlson Farms, and an implement dealer. He served on the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department for many years and the Henderson City Council. He was a member of the Methodist Community Church in Henderson. Jerry also enjoyed riding horses throughout his life. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister: Donna Taylor and her husband Bob; an infant brother; and brother: Randy "Butch" Byers. Survivors include his children: Terry Byers and wife Bette; Jeff Byers and wife Diane; and Kim Lang and husband Greg; grandchildren: Barry Byers and wife Rhonda; Wade Byers and wife Melissa; Trey Byers; Jake Byers and wife Michelle; Allison Baas and husband Nathan; Madison Lang; and Joe Lang; great grandchildren: Kendra Hallam and husband Brandon; Ashlee Byers and fiancé Cameron Walker; Ainsley Byers; Dawson Culver; Hannah Byers; Joshua Byers; Emma Baas; and Grace Baas; great great grandchildren: Kenzlee, Cameron, Bradlee, and Caydence Hallam; Sister: Joanna Winchester and husband Jim; sister-in-law: Judy Byers; friend: Beth Nissen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private family graveside memorials service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
