Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Jennifer Jean Smith, age 47, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at her home. Jen was born December 16, 1972 in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Jo Alice (Rold) Meggison. She graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1991 and later attended Omaha School of Massage. She was united in marriage to Ryan Smith on August 29, 1992 in Red Oak, Iowa. Two children were born to this union: Chloe and Carli. Over the years, Jennifer had worked for the Beauty Nook, Confer Chiropractic, Travel Place, Hy Vee, Casey's, Adams County as a dispatcher, Direct TV, and CDS Global. She loved animals and volunteered with the Montgomery County Animal Rescue. Jen loved spending time with her family, shopping, going to garage sales, traveling to Wyoming and Colorado, and writing in her journal. Preceding her in death was her father: Jerry Meggison. Survivors include her children: Chloe Smith and Carli Smith of Red Oak, IA; mother: Jo Alice Meggison of Red Oak, IA; sister: Julie Masters and husband Steve of Red Oak, IA; nephews and nieces: Ryan Eggleston of Red Oak, IA; Jake Eggleston and wife Jayden of Red Oak; Hannah Sederburg and husband Dusty of Elliott, IA; Daize Pontow and husband Paul of Red Oak, IA; and Ben Coddington of Red Oak, IA; great nephews and nieces: Stryder, Severyn, and Orion Eggleston; Brody Holmes; Mackenzie and Otto Sederburg; Cohen Pontow; and Landon and Rowan Coddington; and many other relatives and friends including her dog and cat: Mika and Mak. A private family graveside memorial services will be held at Gomer Cemetery at Wales, Iowa with a public memorial service to be held at a later date. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
