Birthplace: Willisville, Illinois Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Virginia R. "Jennie" White Griffith, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Virginia Rose "Jennie" White Griffith was born July 13, 1922 in Willisville, Illinois the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Valendata) Russo. The family moved to St. Louis when Jennie was a young girl. She worked in the Candy Factory in St. Louis before she was united in marriage to Lowell White, Jr. on June 6, 1942 in St. Louis. During the war Jennie worked at an armament factory. In 1945 Jennie and Lowell moved to Red Oak, Iowa where Jennie started working at the Union Carbide in the 1950's. She worked there for 23 years. Lowell preceded Jennie in death on June 1, 1974. She was united in marriage to Gerald Griffith on April 1, 1977 in Red Oak, Iowa. Gerald preceded her in death on March 10, 1995. Jennie was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Summit Hill Neighborhood Club. Preceding her in death were her parents; both husbands; her 4 brothers: John, Joe, Phil, and Tony Russo; and two sisters: Kerleen Reid and Katie Lavear. Survivors include her three sons: Lowell White III and wife Diane of Shevlin, Minnesota; Daryl White and wife Rebecca of Austin, Texas; and Doug White and wife Tracy of Red Oak, Iowa; 9 grandchildren: Heather and Michelle White of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dana Schrader and husband Lamar of Houston, Texas; Kim Weatherford and husband Brad of Austin, Texas; Andrea Morris and husband Macky of Basalt, Colorado; Ryan White of Houston, Texas; Tyler White and Kaila McGahee of Omaha, Nebraska; and Nicole White and Craig White both of Red Oak; 5 great grandchildren: Reese and Reagan Weatherford; Sydney Schrader; Marley Morris; and Tori White; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Thursday, February 10, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Ken Gross officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-7 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
