IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanne Marguerite
Garcia
September 29, 1944 – November 29, 2024
Jeanne Marguerite Ord Garcia, aged 80, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, after a valiant four-year battle with cancer, at her home in San Diego, California.
She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. The lives she touched during her life are immeasurable.
Jeanne was born on September 29, 1944, in Phoenix, Arizona to Elam Ord Jr. and Lucille Knop. She was raised in Red Oak, Iowa by her mother and vast extended family. Upon graduation from Red Oak High School, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a secretary in a medical office, where she met her husband, Richard Garcia.
Jeanne and Richard moved to the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles in 1968 and cared for 4 children: Stephen, Mark, Darin, and Christopher. She is survived by her seven grandchildren; Kevyn, Jack, Taylor, Alexandra, Wyatt, Myla, and James; her brother Randall Miller; and numerous cousins.
Jeanne was extremely artistic and creative. She received an associate's degree from UCLA in Design, as her passion was designing kitchens. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain, as her home was the center for family and friends in search of fun, laughter, and a homecooked meal. She loved to joke, play board games, listen to Elvis, dress up, nibble on candy, and spend quality time with her family and friends in Lake Arrowhead and Palm Desert.
Jeanne loved to travel and enjoyed meeting all types of people. Her favorite trips, however, were visiting her numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Midwest, where she would often travel to Iowa and Colorado for birthdays and family reunions. Nothing made Jeanne happier than sharing stories and laughing with her immediate and extended family. We will miss her beautiful smile, wonderful handwriting, amazing peanut butter fudge, and her impeccable sense of style.
