Birthplace: Sioux City, Iowa Resided In: Lindenhurst, IL formerly Red Oak, IA Jean Thompson, age 71, passed away on September 2, 2017 in Lindenhurst, IL. Jean was born in Sioux City, IA to Earl and Roine Miller on August 14, 1946. She went to high school at Westwood High School and graduated in 1964. On September 19, 1964 she married Raymond C. Thompson and traveled the globe as an Army wife. Jean worked for the Lutheran Layman's League and was a receptionist for the Red Oak Chamber of Commerce. Jean was actively involved in the church and was the organist at Our Savior Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, cross stich, bowling, RAGBRAI and spending time with her family. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Thompson; mother, Roine Miller; and father, Earl Miller. Jean is survived by her daughter, Judy Moneysmith and husband Michael Rains, of Grays Lake, IL; daughter, Barbara Thompson and husband James Burkhardt, of New Lenox, IL; son, Raymond Thompson and wife Jeffiner of Joplin, MO; granddaughter Raycee White and husband Ashton of Joplin, MO; granddaughter Victoria O'Dell and husband Matthew of Joplin, MO; sister, Carol Adkins and husband Reuben, of Council Bluffs, IA; brother, Richard Miller and wife Kathy, of Rapid City, SD; brother Robert Miller and wife Ginger, of Rapid City, SD; and sister, Eunice Riesberg and husband Richard of Grundy Center, IA. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Kristan Funeral Home of Mundelein, IL; Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pastor Jerome Wagoner, and all family and friends who have shown their loving support. Visitation will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on September 9, 2017 starting at 9:00am with the funeral service to be held at 10:00am. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
