Jean Ellen Larson, age 79, of Corning, Iowa, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston, Iowa. Jean was born December 17, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Elaine Ranney. She attended school in Cherokee, Iowa, before serving in the United States Army in the Women's Air Corps. Jean was united in marriage to Norman Larson on December 31, 1964, in Jackson, Minnesota. They lived many different places in southwest Iowa before settling in Red Oak in 1979. She was a homemaker who attended Iowa Western Community College to receive her LPN certification. Over the years she worked as an LPN in several locations throughout southwest Iowa. She later attended classes at Southwestern Community College in the RN program. Jean was a longtime member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting, putting together puzzles, cooking, gambling, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed Christmas and Thanksgiving. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Norman Larson; sons: Brian and Duane Larson; son-in-law: Mike Patrick; brothers: Leonard, John, and Jim Ranney; sisters-in-law: Minnie Ann, Vi, and Rose Ranney and Kathy Larson; and brother-in-law: Dale Anderson. Survivors include her children: Wanda Patrick of Red Oak, IA; Debbie Reynolds and husband Jim of Red Oak, IA; Carrie Rosburg of Ft. Dodge, IA; and Brenda Williams and husband Tim of Creston, IA; grandchildren: Michael Patrick of Red Oak, IA; Jacob Larson and wife Kylie of Red Oak, IA; Brandon Larson of Atlantic, IA; Erin Larson of Red Oak, IA; Amber Gonzales of Red Oak, IA; Tabetha Smith of Red Oak, IA; Caleb Walter and Jody Booher of Shenandoah, IA; Jessica Hols and husband Michael of Council Bluffs, IA; Dillon Belt of Colorado; Jordan Belt of Carson, IA; Aayla Larson of Sioux City, IA; Ray Uhl of Sioux City, IA; Keegan Williams of Clarinda, IA; Kylee Williams and husband Glen of Clearfield, IA; Eli Beckett of Creston, IA; Heaven Williams of Creston, IA; and Lilly Williams of Creston, IA; many great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Merle Larson of Rockford, IL and LeRoy Larson and wife Shirley of Cherokee, IA; sister-in-law: Carolyn Anderson of Spencer, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, August 22, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
