Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Hastings, Iowa Jean Arlene Hudson, age 77, of Hastings, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Hospice With Heart House in Glenwood, Iowa. Jean was born October 5, 1937 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Virgil and Irene (Anderson) Johnson. Jean was raised in the Stanton area where she attended school. Jean was united in marriage to Roger Hudson in Las Cruces, New Mexico on November 19, 1953. They lived in Texas while Roger was in the military and then moved back to Hastings where they lived all of their lives. Over the years, Jean worked at JC Penney Co., Montgomery County National Bank, Fareway, and West Central Development where she retired in 2011. Jean was a long time member of the Hastings United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was instrumental in starting the Food Bank and the Loan Closet in Mills County, served on the Hastings Cemetery Association Board for many years, and was very active with the American Cancer Society. Jean loved to travel, spend time with her family, go to auctions, and collect antiques and seraphim angels. Preceding her in death were her father: Virgil Johnson; mother: Irene Harris; husband: Roger Hudson; sons: Chip, Keith, and Cary; great granddaughter: Destiny Ann Edie; and brother: Delaine Johnson. Survivors include her children: Vel Jean Edie and husband David of Red Oak, IA; Gary Hudson of Red Oak, IA; and Mick Hudson of Hastings, IA; grandchildren: Sean Edie and Jolene of Fremont, NE; Dawn Weston and husband Colby of Elliott, IA; Dustin Edie and Cheyenne Meek of Red Oak, IA; Shay Edie of Council Bluffs, IA; Sonny Hudson of Omaha, NE; Miranda Wade and husband Matt of Council Bluffs, IA; Cody Hudson and Brynn Darby of Denver, CO; Benji Maxell and wife Kelsey of Omaha, NE; Tera Hughes and husband Logun of Coburg, IA; Makayla Hudson of Red Oak, IA; and Kaylie Hudson of Red Oak, IA; many great grandchildren; sister: Donna Lee Morelock and husband Ron of Kansas City, MO; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Hastings United Methodist Church in Hastings, Iowa. Burial will be in the Hastings, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Hastings United Methodist Church or the Hospice With Heart House in Glenwood. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
