Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Omaha, Nebraska Jean M. Booher, age 84, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Thursday - Aril 14, 2011 at the House of Hope Alzheimers Care facility in Omaha. Jean was born in Red Oak, Iowa on March, 24, 1927 the daughter of Claude and Ruth Butler. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1944. She then joined the Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII and graduated with her RN in 1947 from Clarkson School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska. She served state side as a Nurse in the Navy Reserves during the Korean War. She met William "Bill" Booher who was also in the Navy and married him on February 28, 1953. They lived in California until returning to Omaha in 1971. Jean held various nursing related positions in the Omaha area until she retired in 1993. Jean enjoyed reading, keeping up with the news, the arts, being outdoors, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was known as quite the social butterfly and always willing to help others. Jean volunteered with various organizations in the local Omaha area especially the Boy and Girl Scouts with her grandchildren. She was a member or the local PEO and Red Hat Society. Preceding her in death are her parents, sister: Mary Ann, and husband: William Booher. Survivors include: her son: Larry Booher of LaHarbra, CA, daughter: Marie Lee and husband David Lee of Omaha, NE; brothers: Neal and Paul; grandchildren: Jennifer Lee of Omaha, NE; Brian Lee and wife Mary Lee and their sons Aiden and Milo of Omaha, NE; nieces: Cindy Schram and Connie Rose both of Omaha , NE; and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the House of Hope in Omaha. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
