Janet Ruth Viles, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society. Janet was born November 5, 1942, in Albion, Nebraska, the daughter of Steve and Elaine Maurer. She was raised in western Nebraska and graduated from Albin, Wyoming High School in 1961. She served in the United States Army from 1964 until 1965. Janet lived in many different places in the country including Moore, Oklahoma before she moved to Red Oak in 1997 to be near family. She resided at Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents and many siblings including Alice Bradway of Red Oak. She is survived by her children; brothers: Joseph Maurer and wife Karen and Robert Maurer and wife Liz; and many nieces and nephews including PJ Bradway and Linda Bradway of Red Oak.

Interment services will be held at a later date at the Omaha National Cemetery.
