Birthplace: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly Elliott, Iowa Janet Sue (Andrews) Petry, age 80, of Council Bluffs formerly of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at University of Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Janet was born May 27, 1937 near Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Mildred (Selser) Andrews. She graduated from Stennett High School in 1955 and began working for Mutual of Omaha. Janet married Lawrence Petry on September 9, 1956 in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Joy, Scott and Byron. They lived in Council Bluffs until 1967 when they moved to Red Oak and in 1970 they moved to Elliott. Janet worked for Na-Churs, First Federal Savings and Loan, later called Metropolitan Federal and retired from Montgomery County Memorial Hospital working in medical records. After retirement, Janet moved to Omaha in 2000 and to Council Bluffs in 2011. She was a member of Community of Christ Church. Janet enjoyed music and playing the piano, visiting with her friends and family, crocheting, cooking and loved her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, sister: Lois Boeger and son-in-law: Ken Tunnell. Survivors include her children: Joy Tunnell of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Scott Petry of Elliott, Iowa; Byron Petry and wife Julie of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; grandchildren: Ryan Tunnell and wife Lela of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; Lauren Tunnell of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Lace Petry and fiancé Aaron Sindt of Lyman, Iowa and Erin Petry and fiancé Logan Ellis of Hastings, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
