Birthplace: Essex, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Janet K. Hunt, age 69, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Janet K. Hunt was born November 2, 1941 in Essex, Iowa the daughter of Lawrence and Millicent (Hart) Nelson. She was raised near Essex, Iowa and the family moved to Elliott, Iowa where Janet graduated high school with the class of 1959. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked in the insurance business. Janet was united in marriage to Ronald Hasenpflug and they moved to Elliott, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Rhonda, Cindy, and Dan. Ronald passed away in 1968 and Janet was united in marriage to Robert Hunt. One son was born to this union: Jeff. Janet worked in various jobs over the years and retired in 2006 from U-Haul Company as a Reservation Manager. Janet was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her great grandson: Conner. She also cherished keeping in touch with her classmates over the years. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Cindy Hasenpflug in 1965; husband: Ronald Hasenpflug in 1968; son Dan Hasenpflug in 2008; brother: Cecil Nelson; sister: Dorothy Elwood; brother-in-law: Melvin Whitehouse; and sister-in-law: Roberta Nelson. Survivors include her children: Rhonda Bowers and husband Kenny of Elliott, Iowa and Jeff Hunt of Elliott and girlfriend Chris Martin and her son Steven of Shenandoah, Iowa; grandson: Tyler Bowers and girlfriend Kristin Miller of Elliott, Iowa; great grandson: Conner Bowers of Elliott, Iowa; brothers: Russell Nelson and wife Dorothy of Elliott, Iowa and Leroy Nelson of Fontanelle, Iowa; sister: Kay Whitehouse of Layton, Utah; sister-in-law: Annie Nelson of Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law: Joe Elwood of Elliott, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends including special friends: Kay Keeton of Elliott, Iowa; Janet Petry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Karen Jones of Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Elliott, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established in Janet's name. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
