Birthplace: Hamburg, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa James D. "Jimmy" Rhoades, age 60, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. James Dale "Jimmy" Rhoades was born July 18, 1947 in Hamburg, Iowa the son of Vernie and Phyllis (Chastain) Rhoades. He was raised in the Fairfax and Rockport, Missouri area graduating from Rockport High School in 1965. After graduation he worked for several area farmers and later was a security officer for many years. Jimmy was united in marriage to Melissa Embree on September 15, 1995 in Falls City, Nebraska. They made their home together in Emerson, Iowa. Jimmy loved hunting and fishing and won many awards for his talents. Several years ago he won the award for the largest Catfish in the State of Iowa. Jimmy found his best reward in his family and friends of whom he treasured. Preceding him in death were his father: Vernie Rhoades and his brother: Joseph Rhoades. Survivors include his wife: Melissa Rhoades of Emerson, Iowa; mother: Phyllis Rhoades of Fairfax, MO; children: Jessie Rhoades of Auburndale, FL, Lisa Lane of Auburndale, FL, Heidi Pullen and husband Anthony of Emerson, IA and Travis Embree and wife Kendra of Emerson, IA; grandchildren: Peyton and Jackson Embree; Michelle and Trenton Pullen; Michelle and Michael Rhoades; and Austin, Zachary, Rebecca, and Jonathon Lane; brothers: Vernon Rhoades and wife Debbie of Fairfax, MO and David Rhoades and wife Liz of Fairfax, MO; sisters: Judy Wooten and husband Larry of Fairfax, MO and Terri Laverentz and husband Wayne of Tabor, Iowa; nephews and nieces: Larry Dale Wooten whom Jimmy helped raise, Joseph Rhoades, Dusty Rhoades, Amy Wooten, Sherry Ann Clark, John Stevens, Steve Stevens, and Sandy Rhoades all of Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Pries officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
