Birthplace: Hamburg, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa James R. "Jim" Beam, age 56, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha after an extended illness. James Roland "Jim" Beam was born October 21, 1952 in Hamburg, Iowa the son of Eugene and Geraldine (Parrish) Beam. He grew up in Stanton, Iowa where he graduated high school in 1971. He started working for the Railroad and later the Eaton Corporation. Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Jackson on October 5, 1974 in Red Oak, Iowa. Jim lived all of his life in the Montgomery County area working at Eaton's in Shenandoah and for a period of time also farming. Jim was a member of the First Christian Church. He loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He also loved taking care of his yard and woodworking with his grandson, Colton. Jim had a very big heart and enjoyed helping others when he could. He always had some kind of cliché to tell you and enjoyed adding a little sarcasm to any situation. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death was his father: Eugene Beam. Survivors include his wife: Shirley Beam of Red Oak, Iowa; daughters: Jamie Wenger and husband Daniel of Denver, Colorado and Hayley Beam of Ankeny, Iowa; grandsons: Colton Beam of Ankeny, Iowa and Owen Wenger of Denver, Colorado; mother: Geraldine Beam of Red Oak, Iowa; brother: Eugene "Bud" Beam and wife Kathy of Shenandoah, Iowa; sister: Ceslie Kinser of Wichita, Kansas; brother-in-law: Keith Jackson of Cushing, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
