Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Council Bluffs, Iowa James R. "Jim" Bass, age 51, of Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly Emerson, Iowa passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at his residence in Council Bluffs. James Robert "Jim" Bass was born June 10, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of George and Ruby (Durham) Bass. He was raised in the Emerson area and graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 1973. Jim then received an associate degree from Iowa Western Community College. Jim lived most of his life in Council Bluffs and was known to be a very kindhearted person, always put others before himself. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; brother: Stanley Bass; and his parents. Survivors include his brothers and sister: Dave Bass and wife Betty of Red Oak, Iowa; Jon Bass of Omaha, Nebraska; Kathy Franzmeier of Clarion, Iowa; and Ken Bass and wife Tami of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Kent, Amy, Suzanne, Tricia, Joni, Bradley, and Kayla Bass; and Laura Franzmeier; uncles and aunts: Wayne Bass and wife Roberta of Eugene, Oregon; Hadley Parker of Red Oak, Iowa; Ivan Durham and wife Jan of Hershey, Nebraska; Joan Andrew of Des Moines, Iowa; and Bob Andrew of Mesa, Arizona; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Bass and Steve Bass officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Open Door Mission. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
