Birthplace: Omaha, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Jacob Shalters, age 11, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his residence. Jacob Alexander Shalters was born November 7, 2001 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Larry, Jr. and Carrie (Jones) Shalters. Jacob touched so many people with his sweet gentle spirit and a smile that could light up a room. He endured much in his short life and changed the family in ways that made them all much stronger. Jacob will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his parents: Larry and Carrie Shalters of Red Oak; sister: Hannah Shalters of Red Oak; brothers: Andrew Shalters of Red Oak and Larry Shalters III of Bernville, PA; grandparents: Larry, Sr. and Connie Shalters of Bernville, PA; Curtis and Janie Peterson of Red Oak; and Dennis and Karen Jones of Red Oak; great grandmother: Mary Helen Peterson of Red Oak; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends as well as the many loving nurses who took care of Jacob over the years. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. John Chaplin officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
