Birthplace: Elliott, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Jack LeRoy Silkett, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Jack L. Silkett was born September 12, 1926 in Elliott, Iowa the son of William "LeeRoy" and Agnes "Naomi" (Davis) Silkett. The family moved to Red Oak when Jack was nine years old. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1945. Jack was united in marriage to Evelina Durham in 1950. She preceded him in death in 1958. He married Mannagayle Gideon in 1959 and then Helen Jones in 1979. Jack worked for the Thomas D. Murphy Company for 45 years where he was a pressman. Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife: Evelina Silkett; sister: Ruth Silkett Kempton Hayes; step-father: Fred Fox; 3 infant brothers; and son: Matthew Silkett, Sr. Survivors include his wife: Helen Silkett of Red Oak, IA; children: Becky Silkett Irvin and husband Joe of Glenwood, IA; Steve Silkett and wife Diane of Fargo, ND; and Jacqueline Silkett Ebacher of Ft. Morgan, CO; step-children: Kenneth Stroup of Red Oak, IA; Kathy Wilkens of Murray, IA; and Karen Priest of Creston, IA; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and nieces: Jeannie Long of Franklin, NC and Cindy Kempton Richter and husband Jerry of Sidney, IA; Graveside memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
