Birthplace: Witten, South Dakota Resided In: Omaha formerly Red Oak, Iowa Jack Barr, age 83 of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at his residence in Omaha. Jack Joe Barr was born September 13, 1923 in Witten, South Dakota, the son of William Everett and Clara Grace (Greeson) Barr. The family moved to Montgomery County, Iowa where Jack attended school at Stennett. He was united in marriage to Erma Woods on August 22, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa. Jack was a farmer and operated Barr's DX Station. Later in life he drove a school bus, was janitor at the Red Oak Schools, and worked for Nishna Valley Monument Company. He was also a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Jack lived most of his life in the Red Oak area until moving to Omaha in 1994. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Erma Barr on March 22, 1993; brothers: Bud, Bob, and Dick; and sister: Gedna Erickson. Jack is survived by his companion: Jean Larson of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter: Cyndy Warner and husband Bo of Bowie, Maryland; son: Randy Barr and wife Doris of Red Oak, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Scott Peterson of El Paso, Texas; Chad Peterson of Severn, Maryland; Kelly Kerwin of Brooklyn, New York; Robin Barnes and husband Jon of Baltimore, Maryland; Angie Barr of Lincoln, Nebraska; Nicole Barr of Omaha, Nebraksa; and Nathan Barr of Omaha, Nebraska; 2 great grandchildren: Nathan and Morgan; three sisters: Ruth Hewitt and husband Robert of Springfield, Missouri; Mary Damman and husband Arnold of Essex, Iowa; and Peggy Rothmeyer and husband Bill of Loveland, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
