Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Davenport, Iowa Jack Ballan Baker, age 83, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. Jack was born December 21, 1936 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Archie and Neola Baker. He was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1954. After graduating, Jack served in the United States Army. In 1957, Jack enrolled in Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1961 with a degree as an Electrical Engineer. He married Rosalie Foreman-Garey on June 20, 1970 in Papillion, Nebraska. Jack began his professional career for the U.S. Navy at China Lake, California, working in research and development of computers. In 1967, Jack moved to Davenport, Iowa, and was employed at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, working for Army Material Command in the Communication Division and Engineering Management Division, retiring in 1988. After retiring, Jack worked for H & R Block. Jack was a member of the Beaux Arts Fund Committee, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the NRA. Jack enjoyed his family and sometimes taking his grandchildren on vacations and family reunions. Those to honor his memory include his wife, Rosalie and daughter Pamela (Rich) Kobre of Davenport, IA; three grandchildren, Kelli (Todd) Allen of Surprise, AZ, Travis (Alex) Klemme of Moliine, IL, and Casey Klemme of Davenport, IA; step-granddaughter, Paula (Mike) Granell of Davenport, IA; and many great grandchildren; brother: Rodney (Judy) Baker of Longview, WA; and sister, Judy Baker Rebitzke of Red Oak, IA. Preceding him in death were his father and mother; brothers: Fred, Robert, George, and Richard; sisters: Helen Shaw, Jean Adams, and Mary Baker. A graveside interment service will be held 4 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Arlington Cemetery near Villisca, Iowa. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Red Oak, Eagles Lodge in Red Oak, Iowa. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with the interment service at Arlington Cemetery.
