Obituary

Birthplace: Rural Carson, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Irvin G. Bolton, age 81, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a sudden illness. Irvin Gene Bolton was born, March 1, 1928 on a farm near Carson, Iowa the son of Lorence George and Mona Irene (Higgens) Bolton. He attended country school until the family moved to Treynor, Iowa where Irvin graduated high school in the class of 1946. He farmed with his father and also worked at Armor Packing Plant in Omaha. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Connie Byers at the family farm near Carson, Iowa. Irv and Connie lived on farms near the Macedonia and Henderson area before moving to the Emerson farm where they raised their family and lived for 50 years. Irv was an avid baseball fan and played with the Macedonia Town Team. He also played slow pitch softball for Wales for several years. Irvin drove a truck for Ray Gammell for many years while he farmed. Farming and raising hogs was his lifelong passion until he retired and moved into Red Oak in 2005. Preceding him in death were his parents; two daughters: Mary Ellen and Susan Diane and a granddaughter: Angela Eggers. Survivors include his wife: Connie Bolton of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Patricia Hacker and husband Rod of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Gerald Bolton and wife Cathy of Griswold, Iowa; Carolyn Bolton of Red Oak, Iowa; Amy Confer and husband Kerry of Emerson, Iowa; Julie Bolton of Red Oak, Iowa; Michael Bolton of St. Joseph, Missouri; and Gwendolyn Eggers and husband Greg of Carson, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother: Harvey Bolton of Le Mars, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Janice Carlton officiating. A private family burial will take place prior to the services. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Hawthorne United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
