Birthplace: Fremont County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Irma K. Stratton, age 95, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. Irma Kathleen Stratton was born September 4, 1914 in Fremont County, Iowa the daughter of Claude LeRoy and Eva (McIntire) Finley. She attended grade school in a one room school house, graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1932, and was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. After high school graduation, she worked a number of years for the Iowa Finance Company in Shenandoah. She was united in marriage to Bernard Stratton on December 25, 1941 and they made their home in Red Oak, Iowa before moving to Norfolk, Virginia. Later they were moved to Oakland, California during WWII where Irma was employed as a clerk typist at the U.S. Naval Air Station. After returning to Red Oak, she worked 22 years as a Chiropractors receptionist and assistant until her retirement in 1980. Irma was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; her husband: Bernard in 1981; a brother: Duane Finley; two sisters: Claudia Bangs and Gwen Smoke; four brothers-in-law: Charles Smoke, Pete Bangs, Stanley Bloom, and Robert Book; and sister-in-law: Elaine Finley. Survivors include her son: Thomas Stratton and wife Jeannette of Parker, Colorado; grandson: Brian Stratton and wife Trisha of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great grandchildren: Brycen and Tristan Stratton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sisters: Wanda Book and Phyllis Bloom of Shenandoah, Iowa; brother: Galen Finley and wife JoAnn of Mesa, Arizona; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including special friends: Carolyn Hunt of Red Oak, Iowa; Phyllis Hunt Heim of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Dean and Roberta Mitchell of Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from Noon until 1 PM on Monday before the funeral at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
