Birthplace: Rural Silver City, IA Resided In: Papillion, NE formerly Red Oak Geraldine "Ilene" Spetman, age 85, of Papillion, Nebraska formerly Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Hillcrest Cottages in Papillion. Ilene was born June 7, 1929 near Silver City, Iowa the daughter of William and Ethel (Baker) Williams. She graduated from Silver City High School in 1946 and received teachers training. She taught country school for several years and was united in marriage to Donald Spetman on October 17, 1951 at her family home near Silver City. They lived many years in the Red Oak area where they were members of the Stratton United Methodist Church. Ilene was known for being a meticulous housekeeper and enjoying gardening. She always enjoyed her flowers and tending to her vegetable garden. She canned and froze countless vegetables over the years. She was a wonderful mother and caretaker for her daughters. She even learned how to drive when she was well in her thirties to keep up with their busy schedules. In retirement, Ilene and Don loved to travel, taking many trips to Branson, Missouri, Colorado, and even Europe. Don passed away in 2007 and Ilene moved to the Hillcrest Mable Rose Assisted living and eventually the Cottages where she passed. Preceding her in death were her parents; 7 brothers; 7 sisters; husband: Donald ; and son-in-law: Walt Casson. Survivors include her daughters: Kathy Casson of Treynor, IA and Cindy Hennings and husband Al of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Dan Hennings and wife Michelle of Chicago, IL; Jeff Hennings of Ralston, NE; and Chris Hennings and wife Sarah of Omaha, NE; great grandchildren: Brandon and Kaitlyn Hennings; brother: Darrell Williams and wife Bonnie of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law: Wanda Williams of Henderson, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Ilene's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
