Birthplace: Maryville, Missouri Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Herbert Lee Lewis, age 72, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Sunday, November 30, 2014 at his residence. Herbert was born November 20, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Wilbur and Stella (Hutzell) Lewis. He was raised in the Hamburg area graduating from Hamburg High School. He then attended college for one year in Omaha, Nebraska. Herbert was united in marriage to Cheryl Bartles on November 20, 1967 in Maryville, Missouri. They moved to Red Oak in 1974 where Herbert worked for Thos. D. Murphy Company and then became a truck driver for HTL Trucking out of Omaha. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and watching his granddaughter play basketball and tennis. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife: Cheryl Lewis of Red Oak, IA; children: Rick Lewis of Creston, IA and Sandra Taylor (Jason Dumler) of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Rick Lewis, Jr. of Creston, IA; Harlee Lewis of Creston, IA; Micayla Taylor of Red Oak, IA; and Elizabeth Dumler of Red Oak, IA; sister: Marilyn "Jeanie" Scott and husband Guy of Grimes, IA; sister-in-law: Susie Bartles of Shenandoah, IA; and many other relatives and friends. There will be no services at this time. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
