Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Hellen E. "Tutty" Bonfy, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Hellen Edith "Tutty" Bonfy was born May 27, 1914 in Lincoln Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Dave and Sylva (Maxwell) Jenkins. She graduated from the Wales-Lincoln School in 1932. Hellen moved to California in 1937. She was united in marriage to Don Bonfy in November of 1939 in Yuma, Arizona. During WWII, Hellen worked for the aircraft company building airplanes. Also during her years in California, she worked for the Baptist Book Store, Lubeco, Inc., and the Pepsicola Company. Don preceded her in death on January 30, 1971 and in 1972 Hellen moved back to Red Oak, Iowa. She and her sister Hazel "Bunny" Jones cleaned houses together for many years. Hellen loved to watch Wheel of Fortune, loved to go to basketball games, loved to go on trips with Hazel and her brother Harold and his wife Eleanor, and found beauty in everything. Hellen was peceded in death by her parents; her husband: Don Bonfy; her brother: Harold Jenkins; her sister: Hazel Jones; her brother-in-law: George Jones; and her sister-in-law: Eleanor Jenkins. Survivors include her daughter: Margaret Ann Maher and Mick of Red Oak, Iowa; grandson: Jason Waters of Red Oak, Iowa; nephews and nieces: Darry Jenkins and special friend Linda Jay of Wales, Iowa; Donnie Jenkins and wife Nancy of Atlantic, Iowa; Bryan Jenkins and wife Trudy of Wales, Iowa; LaDonna Rossander and husband Harold of Stanton, Iowa; Karen Rahn and husband Dick of Omaha, Nebraska; Trent Jones and wife Frances of Kansas City, Kansas; and Larry Jones of Snow Mass, Colorado; special friend: Marjorie Moore of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
