Birthplace: Lincoln Center, Iowa Resided In: RedOak, Iowa Helen L. Ross, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, July 2, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak after an extended illness. Helen Lucille Ross was born October 3, 1914 in Lincoln Center, Iowa the daughter of Dan and Clara Grace (Nelson) Kuhn. The family moved to a farm south of Grant, Iowa where they lived until Helen was the age of five. They then moved to Morton's Mill. Helen was united in marriage to William Estel Ross on August 10, 1931 in Maryville, Missouri. They lived in Nodaway and later moved to Red Oak in 1956. Helen worked for the Union Carbide Battery Company from 1949 until 1973 at which time she retired. Helen was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: William Estel Ross; son: William D. Ross; 2 grandchildren: Deanna Sue Ross; and Billy Joe Ross; 2 sisters: Stella and Grace; 4 brothers: Walter, Earl, Paul, and Vernon; and a half sister: Hazel. Survivors include her daughter: Betty Wright of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Duane Ross and wife Shirley of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Pam Bentson of Red Oak, Iowa; Patricia Terry and husband Lyle of Red Oak, Iowa; David Bentson of Red Oak, Iowa; Barbara Wright of Frederick, Colorado; Sherry Richie and husband Guy of North Judson, Indiana; Teresa Seering and husband J.R. of Red Oak, Iowa; and Jeff Ross and wife Tanya of Red Oak, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren: Kimberly, James, Ashley, and Bailey Bentson; Scott Bickle; Craig Gates; Brooke and Jasmine Seering; Luke and Melanie Ross; and Shelley and Christopher Richie; 4 great great grandchildren: MacKenzze and Elysia Bentson; Zachary Askeland; and Keaghon Chin; brother: Dannie Kuhn and wife Margaret of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Burgett officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Rose Cemetery in Adams County, Iowa. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
