Birthplace: rural Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Helen I. Bourn, age 81, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Helen Irene Bourn was born July 19, 1930 in rural Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of James Madison and Emma Permelia (Mitchell) Bourn. She graduated from Elliott High School in 1949. Helen worked 9 years at Thomas D. Murphy Company and then worked for Union Carbide for over thirty years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, enjoyed embroidery, sewing, crocheting, and helping others. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother: James Bourn. She is survived by her sister-in-law: Mary Jo Bourn of Red Oak, Iowa; nephew: James LeRoy Bourn and wife Melody; nieces: Jean Bourn Hicks and husband Avery of Norman, Oklahoma and Jane Bourn of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Salem Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
