Birthplace: Hastings, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Helen Louise Archer, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Helen was born January 9, 1929, near Hastings, Iowa, the daughter of Dean and Ila (Wilcox) Bradway. The family lived several different places before settling near Coburg, Iowa, where Helen graduated from high school in 1947. During high school, Helen was introduced to Devon "Jeep" Archer at a basketball game at Stennett High School. They were married June 8, 1947. They started life together on the Archer family farm near Stennett, Iowa, where they lived for three years. They moved to Red Oak for three and a half years where Helen worked at Union Carbide Battery Co. Then they moved to Stanton, Iowa, to an acreage, where Helen could tend to her horses and other livestock. They lived there for 15 years before moving to Red Oak, Iowa. Helen was the Montgomery County Horse and Pony leader for 24 years and the Horse and Pony Superintendent at Montgomery County Fair for 23 years. She saw her two girls and three grandchildren go through the program before retiring as Superintendent. She and her family were members of the Red Oak Saddle Club and participated in many horse events. Helen worked at Uniroyal which became Parker Hannifin retiring in 1991 after 17 ½ years. She was a member of the Baptist Church for many years and currently was a member of Crossroads Community Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Jeep Archer on November 16, 1996; and brothers: Robert, Louis and Leonard. Survivors include her daughters: Shirley DeWitt and husband Rex of Red Oak, IA and Marlene Taylor and husband Greg of Villisca, IA; grandchildren: Travis Taylor and wife Stacy of Stanton, IA; Tony Taylor and wife Amy of Elko-New Market, MN; and Tiffany Becker and husband Chris of Jefferson, SD; great grandchildren: Garrett, Devon, Justin, Hunter, Maley, Berkley, Brynnley, and Greyson; brothers and sisters: Lawrence and Nadine Bradway of Texas; Virginia and Ron Settell of Fort Dodge, IA; Ralph and Pat Bradway of Illinois; Sherwood Bradway of Red Oak, IA; Dorothy Fisher of Utah; and Delaine and Susan Bradway of California; sisters-in-law: Connie Murphy and Nadene Collins of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Memorials are suggested to the Crossroads Community Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
