Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Orange, California Helen A.M. Anderson, age 86, of Orange, California formerly of the Red Oak and Stanton area passed away September 13, 2003 at the Chapman Medical Center in Oceanside, California. Helen Anderson was born November 15, 1916 on a farm near Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Simon and Freda Swanson. Helen graduated from Wales High School in 1934 and was united in marriage to Ernest C. Anderson of Red Oak, Iowa in 1936. They farmed in both Red Oak and Stanton before moving to Garden Grove, California in 1954. They attended First Covenant Church when living in Iowa. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Ernest C. Anderson in 1995; and a sister: Grace Johnson in 1985. Survivors include her sons: Norman Anderson of Orange, California; and Marion "Andy" Anderson and wife Bonnie of Oceanside, California; daughters: Carole Knowles and husband Charles of Garden Grove, California; and Saundra Beneck and husband Doug of Orange Hills, California; grandchildren: Heidi Hower; Wendi Dougherty; Christine, Curt, and Shelly Knowles; Jeff and Amy Beneck; and Jill Khashayer; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Virginia Sandell of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Monday, September 22, 2003 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. David Carlson officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation, the Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
