Obituary

Birthplace: Garden Grove, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Harold E. "Bud" Hamilton, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Harold Edwin "Bud" Hamilton was born September 6, 1924 in Garden Grove, Iowa the son of George W. and Hazel (Dodd) Hamilton. The family moved to Red Oak, Iowa where Bud graduated from Red Oak High School in 1943. He then served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 until 1946. He served upon the USS Honolulu in the South Pacific. He returned to Red Oak, Iowa after the war and started work for Emil Johnson and Sons as a carpenter. He was united in marriage to Carol Hersman on March 11, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Red Oak. Bud also worked for Vernon Mainquist before working for Oakview Construction. He retired as a foreman in 1990 after 20 years of service. Over the years Bud was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Red Oak Elks Lodge where he was named Elk of The Year in 1991. Bud was also a volunteer fireman for 20 years as 1st Assistant Fire Chief and served in the Iowa National Guard for three years as Mess Sergeant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and was a handyman who could fix anything. Preceding Bud in death were his parents and sisters: Georgianna Mehuron and June Johnson. Survivors include his wife: Carol Hamilton of Red Oak, Iowa; daughters: Sandy Krcilek and husband Budd of Red Oak, Iowa and Sue England and husband Norm of Carroll, Iowa; son: Doug Hamilton and wife Tina of Fenton, Missouri; grandchildren: Cole England of San Francisco, California; Sara England of Eagan, Minnesota; Dominique Hamilton of St. Louis, Missouri; and Christopher Hamilton of Vittmer, Missouri; sister: Donna Hamilton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
