Birthplace: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Gwen Peterson, age 90, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at her home in rural Red Oak. Gwen was born June 21, 1924 on the family farm the daughter of Edward Arthur and Nettie Faye (Truitt) Raymond. She was raised in Montgomery and Page Counties. She graduated from the Coin, Iowa High School. The family moved back to Montgomery County and Gwen was united in marriage to Dale C. Peterson on October 26, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa. Gwen lived the past 60 years on the home place where she was born. In her younger years she was a 4-H leader and enjoyed being a part of the women's neighborhood club. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and other livestock, and crocheting. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant brother: Robert Edward Raymond; husband: Dale C. Peterson; and sisters: Eileen Wookey and Maxine Raymond. Survivors include her children: Marcia Greene of Scottsdale, AZ; Marlin Peterson and wife Pam of Red Oak, IA; and Roger Peterson of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Kelly Greene and wife Juli of Orlando, FL; Lucas Peterson of Orlando, FL; and Benjamin Peterson and wife Ashley of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Colin and Marli Greene of Orlando, FL; brother: Duane Raymond and wife Joanne of Jefferson, OR; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Faith Community Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30-7 PM Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
