Birthplace: Ainsworth, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Grace Coulter, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away, Friday, March 17, 2006 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Grace Ethel Coulter was born October 11, 1920 in Ainsworth, Iowa the daughter of William and Albia (Lukasky) Havel. She was raised and attended school in Washington, Iowa. After school she worked at a restaurant until she went to California to work in the defense plant. This is where she met W.W. "Bill" Coulter. They were united in marriage November 23, 1945 in Washington, Iowa. Bill was a chiropractor. They lived in Davenport and Columbus Junction before moving to Red Oak, Iowa in 1956. Bill preceded her in death in 1970. She began babysitting at that time and did so for over 20 years. Grace attended the First United Methodist Church and was involved in church circle. She also was a Girl Scout Leader in her earlier years. Grace was devoted to her family and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son: Jon Michael Coulter in 1967; her husband: W.W. "Bill" Coulter; four sisters: Irene Green, Helen Reed, Edna Havel, and Martha Hammen; and two brothers: Edward and Wilbur Havel. Survivors include her three daughters: Cindy Wendt and husband Fred of Red Oak, Iowa; Debra Ervin and husband Gary of Maryville, Missouri; and Melody Bourn and husband Jim of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Aaron Wendt and wife Heidi of Red Oak, Iowa; Lindsey Maupin and husband Eric of Skidmore, Missouri; Julie Ervin and fiancé Nathan Blane of Maryville, Missouri; Jill Ervin of Pasadena, California; Holly Kelly of Red Oak, Iowa; Nick Jandreau of Red Oak, Iowa and James Wayne Bourn of Red Oak, Iowa; 5 great grandchildren: Madison and Kamryn Wendt; James Dean Kelly, Jackson Michael Kelly, and Hannah Grace Kelly; and many other relatives and friends.
