Gordon Llewellyn Streitenberger, age 84, of Licking, Missouri, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. Gordon was born September 14, 1937, near Essex, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Lois (Sheridan) Streitenberger. The first seven years of Gordon's life, the family lived southwest of Red Oak, Iowa and attended the Climax United Methodist Church. The family then moved to a farm northeast of Red Oak where Gordon attended Pilot Grove Country School and one semester at Elliott, Iowa. The family moved to Red Oak when Gordon was halfway through his sophomore year. He became the student manager of the football, basketball, and track teams. After graduating from Red Oak High School in 1955, Gordon served in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1960. Gordon lived many different places throughout his life, spending many years in Aurora, Colorado, until moving to Licking, Missouri, in 2010. He was united in marriage to Iretta Scaggs in 1978 in Colorado.
Preceding him in death were his parents; children: Pam Maldonado, Joy Scaggs, and Randy Scaggs; grandchildren: Jody Littrell, Thomas Streitenberger; Clark Streitenberger, and Clarence Streitenberger; and daughter-in-law: Judy Streitenberger. Survivors include his wife: Iretta Streitenberger; children: Lois Grubbs, Gwyn Fernandez, Robin Evans and husband Mike, Kerrie Yeoman and husband Ed, Gordon Streitenberger, Shawn Streitenberger and wife Janet, Rhonda Ortiz and husband Blass, and John Scaggs and wife Lori; 33 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren; sister: Winifred Hansen and husband Anton; brothers: Fred Streitenberger and wife Becky and Dennis Streitenberger and wife Jody; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
