Obituary

Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Monona, Iowa Glenn Harold Binns, 86, of Monona, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. He was born February 1, 1926 in Red Oak, Iowa to Wilfred and Ella (Hadden) Binns. He graduated from Coburg High School, Coburg, Iowa in 1944. Glenn served in the United States Navy in the Philippines from 1944 - 1946. He worked forty years for Mid-American Power in Red Oak, Shenandoah and Council Bluffs. He married Jean Steadman in 1949, four Children were born to this union. In 1970 he married Darlene Hanson and in 1981, he married Rose Mary Whittle Geraghty. Glenn is survived by his wife, Rose Mary; his children, Dennis (Sue) Binns of Red Oak, Jane (Randy) Franks of Red Oak and Audrey (Bob) Nielson of Council Bluffs; a step-daughter, Kathy (Dan) Pixler of Monona; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a sister, Ella Mae Sorenson of Iowa Falls and many other relatives and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his son, James L. Binns; step-son, Michael J. Geraghty; his parents and a brother, John Binns. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 4 - 6 pm at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa and also on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 4 - 7 pm at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. A Military Graveside Service will be at 11 am on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
