Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Green Valley, AZ formerly Red Oak, IA Glendora E. Wubker, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2016, after a full, blessed life of 95 years. She was born in Red Oak, Iowa on March 17, 1921, to Glen and Hattie (McMillan) Ashby. Glendora was the middle child of three. Her older sister Jeanette Ashby Van Westen and younger brother Grant Ashby both preceded her in death. After graduating from Red Oak High School, she attended secretarial school in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Robert Darwin Wenstrand of Essex, Iowa, in March 1943, in Monroe, Alabama. After his wartime death in December, 1944, she worked and raised her son Philip, supported by family, friends and community. In 1960, she married George Wubker of Clarinda, Iowa, in Red Oak, and happily added his three sons, Warren, Duane, and Alan to her family. The family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where she continued to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until her retirement in 1978. Moving to Green Valley after retirement, Glendora and George became members of the Green Valley Community Church and joined the Country Club of Green Valley and the Green Valley Elks Lodge. They loved their new home and made many lasting friendships. Glendora became an excellent golfer, winning many trophies. She gave freely of her time and energy to attend to her family, church and friends. She was a staunch supporter of various veteran charities and of the Lion's Club. She is survived by her sons, Philip (Sheryl) Wenstrand, Warren (Lori) Wubker, Duane (Marilyn) Wubker, and Alan (Pat) Wubker, 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, 410 N. Sixth Street, Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials can be made to a veteran's charity such as Operation Homefront or Wounded Warriors Family Support, or to a charity of your choice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
