Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Gladys Ogden, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Gladys Elizabeth Ogden was born January 23, 1913 in Frankfort Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of William and Edith (Gotobed) Ogden. She attended grade school at the Frankfort School and graduated in the class of 1931 from Red Oak High School. Gladys was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. She was a past member of the Junior Federated Club. Gladys loved living in the country, gardening, sharing her produce with friends, and helping on the farm. During her working years, Gladys was employed at the Milledge Hardware Store until it was sold. She then worked for a short time at the Peterson Implement Company as a bookkeeper, and later was employed by Fifield Furniture Company as a bookkeeper until her retirement. Gladys was a devoted caregiver to her mother after her father passed away in 1937. She and her mother moved into town and lived together until her mother passed away in 1974. After her mother passed away Gladys moved into her own house on Crestline Drive where she enjoyed her many friendly neighbors and their "Coffee Chats". Gladys moved into Good Samaritan Care Center in 1998 after she broke her hip. Gladys was preceded in death by her brother: Paul Ogden on November 17, 1996 as well as her parents. Survivors include her sister-in-law: Mabel Ogden of Red Oak, Iowa; niece: Judith Ogden Fabian of Edmond, Oklahoma; nephew: Bill Ogden and wife Cathy of Red Oak, Iowa; great nieces: Liza Fabian Matthews and husband Michael of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and Jamie Ogden and husband Rod Daniel of Corvallis, Montana; great nephews: Stephen Fabian and wife Jami of Irving, Texas; and Clay Ogden and wife Vivian of Ft. Collins, Colorado; great great nieces: Tarryn Fabian and Rosalyn Daniel; and great great nephews: Kirsten Fabian and Cade Matthews; as well as many friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dee Jay Reiff officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
