Birthplace: Wahoo, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Gladys Josephine Forsythe, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Gladys was born August 6, 1926 in Wahoo, Nebraska, the daughter of Chris and Margaret (Hetrick) Nelson. She was raised in Fremont, Nebraska, where she graduated high school. Gladys was united in marriage to Willard "Bill" Forsythe on October 12, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska. Over the years they lived in Fremont, Nebraska, Creston, Iowa, and Villisca, Iowa, before moving to Red Oak, Iowa, in 1964. Gladys worked many years at Thos. D. Murphy Co. retiring in 1991. Gladys loved taking care of her house and yard and was know to be a great cook and baker. Her specialties were noodles, cinnamon rolls, and peanut butter cookies. Her greatest passion was her love for her family and the time they spent together. She was also a member of the 15-20 year club at Thos. D. Murphy Co. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Bill on May 2, 1996; and 7 siblings. Survivors include her children: Martha Forsythe and husband Wayne Brodman of Overland Park, KS; Willard "Butch" Forsythe and wife Nancy of Akron, IA; Vera Dell Hoffman and husband Ray of Greeley, CO; Michael Dean Forsythe of Red Oak, IA; Tony Kenny Forsythe of Bellevue, NE; and David Eugene Forsythe and wife Miranda of Oakland, IA; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Grant, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 PM Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
