Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Gladys Dukeshier, age 94, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Gladys Helen Dukeshier was born February 16, 1908 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Emit and Maude (Finley) Wheeler. She was raised in the Red Oak area and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1927. Gladys was united in marriage to Benjamin Dukeshier on November 23, 1927 in Red Oak, Iowa. After their marriage they made their home on the Dukeshier family farm until 1949. She then worked for Spurgeons for many years retiring as manager. Gladys was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Church Circle, The Rebekah Lodge where she was the Past Noble Grand, and was a member of Business and Professional Women. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband: Ben Dukeshier on February 14, 1983; her parents; a brother: Lysle Wheeler; sister: Grace Comstock; and grandson: Mark Bills. Survivors include her daughter: Lois Lawson of Jefferson, Iowa; 2 grandchildren: Tracy Bills and his wife Linda of Jefferson, Iowa; and Brian Bills and his wife Traci of Washington, Utah; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Red Oak Rescue Unit, or the American Heart Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
